to do this use super rank goombella, charge and charge P. repeatedly charge both mario and goombella until grubba's fast status wears off then powerbounce and multibonk and he'll die as long as he doesn't buff defense

You can also use Sleepy Stomp (50%) and Charge / Charge P with power bounce and Kid Yoshi ground pound

I found success simply through equipping both Power Plus P's, Power Plus, and Jump Man, and then using a Power Punch (which can be bought in the shop outside the Glitz Pit) on both Goombella and Mario's first turn. I then used Spin Jump and Headbonk on every turn except for one Tattle turn. This left me a whole extra attack of leeway at the end even with him buffing his defense somewhere in there, though Mario did almost die (but that was partially because I somehow forgot to heal to full before the battle started). You definitely don't need the Power Punchs if he doesn't buff his defense, but they're good insurance against that. Yoshi could replace Goombella but he's worse if Power Punch isn't active (but better if it is), and I wanted to Tattle Grubba.

Note that getting the relevant badges will cost you 30 Star Pieces, 180 coins at Charlieton, and at least 21 badge power, so this may not be super practical unless you happen to already have those things, though I imagine many might because they are all very good individually.

Also note that Clock Out should have a 40% chance to work if you've gotten to the last turn and you're desperate.

Whatever you do here DO NOT save right before the door to the arena after confronting Grubba in his office. All exits are blocked by guards making it impossible to leave so no chance to stock up on anything.
