This one is a lot harder than it lets on. You basically need to throw the start, get a blue shell off the first item block, and then outrace everyone else to the front of the pack.

Anyone got any recommendations for best track to do this?

I did this on rainbow road 100cc.

However, the achievement unlocked when I got into 1st place with the shell. Didn't even have to use it 🤔

This has been fixed and was a bug which would auto trigger the cheevo do to how the item pointer behaves.

Never got a blue shell on 50cc.
I just did 100cc with koopas and Bullet Bill kart on Flower cup (mushroom bridge).

I would take the pipe secret to slow myself to 8th place and if I didn't get it with that double block or the one or two right after in the tunnel, I'd restart.

Took me about 20min.

Just wanted to point out that this achievement doesn't unlock if you play co-op.

Just got this random within trying to get a perfect score on 150cc All Cup with Wario and Waluigi on Baby Park.
I think Baby Park is very good for this because you have a good chance to catch up.
However, you still need luck to get it very early and dont get hit by to much targets on the way to 1st.

I wanted to do this on Dry Dry Desert 50cc.(There are plenty of item boxes, so you can be barely behind the last CPU. And there's a huge Gap. (beat the Staff Ghost))
Anyway I got this 1st try on Baby Park at lap 6, but I got way more Lightning Bolts.

the blue shell feels so so rare, took me forever just to get 1 blue shell. but once it did it was really easy

I've played the 100cc all cup with Boo and Petey and got Blue shells on third place right after the start. I don't know if that's intented or some kind of game bug.

Got it fairly quickly on 100cc Bowsers Castle. Got none in the previous two races, then two on Bowsers Castle. Only downside is it’s very easy to lose them while you play catch up, but the shortcut at the hairpin bends just before the final jump of the lap (where mecha-bowser launches fireballs) makes this an easy course to catch up with the AI

Do 100cc Dino jungle throw the beginning and get some mushrooms and save them and try to get blue shell then use the shortcut ramp in the middle section of the course before the giant Dino head on the bridge
