OK I think I figured it out? It's something to do with how quickly you get past him? What I did was get close, get the rhythm and dodge past. I think he's programmed not to throw it if you're too close to him for too long? Two quick dodges in succession has lead to him throwing it a lot more.

You dodge his ball and chain towards him, quickly dodge away from him, roll till he throws his ball & chain which should be like a second after your second dodge, then hit his tail with 2 bomb arrows, boom you’re done.
Hope it helps! Using the bomb arrows he always dies from 2 quick shots from them, so it’s WAY easier to do it in 1 cycle

This fight was pretty easy after I found a strategy. All I did was roll to him and circle around him to go back to the side where I came from. Then after being back near the closed door, spam roll past him again. This always caused him to throw the ball for me and then it's just several forward stabs, around 5-6. Then go back into one of the corners and repeat. I was able to two-cycle him that way.

Another tip to add! Mortal draw kills him in 1 hit, and there's enough time to try it twice when he throws the ball.

Right as the fight starts, run towards him then dodge so your roll ends right next to him. circle around him and dodge back towards where you started, but hug the wall closest to his right side. when he throws the ball itll hit the wall and fall to the ground, so you dont have to try dodging the ball again. once the ball is down you can run behind him, l target right away, and let off two bomb arrows to one cycle him.

Okay. All the other explanations here are way too complicated.

1. Roll into it.
2. L-Target while standing directly in front of it for 2 seconds. This is so the ball is swinging high and can't hit you during step 3.
3. Circle around it while L-targeting until it throws the ball.
4. 2 bomb arrows.

Every explanation for how to do this is shockingly bad!

OBVIOUSLY what you have to do is wait an indeterminate amount of time, and pick the correct time to roll twice past him. Wait a sec, then roll laterally to avoid the incoming ball throw that is completely randomly tossed!

I ended up going into wolf form against Darkhammer so I could circle it easily and bite its back once. After that, it throws the ball. I then went into human form and used Mortal Draw, which instakilled it.

Okay this was beyond easy after I did what @WadeB suggested. Don't over think it. literally a 10 second boss fight.

I died like ten times trying to follow the video and advice above. It's just too unpredictable when he'll actually throw the ball..

The way I got it was by simply waiting for the ball to rise to his head and then rolled back and forth to each of the locked doors until he finally threw the ball at me and then went in for the Mortal Draw. It only took me one try to do it like that. There's no sense in rolling to him or trying to circle him when it's safer to just roll past repeatedly to the doors.

Just tested. I rolled into his swing on the left side and then away from him. He threw the ball every time I passed him like this. I done a Mortal Draw on him and he died in 1 hit. This achievement is way easier then what is being said.

Go into wolf form and bite the tail. it'll throw the ball, and then you can transform back and use Mortal Draw.

Yeah, Wolf to Mortal Draw is 100% the way to go, tried the other methods first to no avail and then got it first try with this method.
