should be opening the chests that counts, even if you have a full inventory. i had my wallet with full gems, so i couldn't get the achievement. :(

this is why in the wii u version they changed it so you'd just lose out on the rupees but the chest would stay open.

obviously it won't work because the chest has been closed, as long as the chest remains closed the achievement will not be activated, just look on your map as it will show that it is missing, only the Wii U version this has removed

Ran into this issue, any solution around it other than a manual unlock request or spending rupees and coming back to open it?

If you got a full wallet, best to use Oocoo to warp out of the dungeon and donate some rupees to Trill.
I make sure to start the dungeons with the least amount of rupees possible. This dungeon can easily give you over 200 rupees.
