I took damage and fell in the lava as Barba was dying. When I reentered the room, the key fell immediately and I got the achievement

Barba isn't that bad of a boss. In fact, actually entering the room is harder than the boss itself. Barba shoots a deadly, but predictable fire breath attack. If you stay far away from it, it will never hit you. There's two safe ways to attack Barba, either camp at the middle or right pits to wait for him to spawn and hit his head while he's coming up.

Don't bother with the left because you don't have a safe area to go to if he goes to the left pit. The second is to jump towards him when he's about to do his fire breath to dodge it then hit him while he's sinking into the lava. Keep this up and you'll beat him in no time.
