    Way easier method: From the start go left where Il Piantissimo's race flag was, jump up the passage and the tunnels to get on the top with the palm and the bird. From there do a spin jump to the shell, hover about midway and at the end dive. You should be able to reach the top of the shell, if you slide down try to hover back up.

    I kept accidentally grabbing the rope from below when trying the video way. Then I found I could jump from the spiral shell to the top platform and got up no problem https://imgur.com/4zYSdMV
