tip for the girlies: grab a calculator! because you need to see how close you are to killing her.
cast AFIR on the first turn, and if you get low, cast HEL2 going forward.
this boss has 600 hp, so you have to be very familiar with your physical damage dealers.
Kary hits like a truck, so you will need to be either lucky or overleveled and lucky (as is my case doing the 'no chests' and 'no class upgrade' challenges) for her not to hit your black mage.
I lowered her by 530 using lvl 23 fighter+blackbelt and finished with 2 turns FIR3.

This one gets easier if you take a detour to the Ice Cave to pick up the Flame Sword. My LV19 Fighter was able to deal over 100 damage per turn with it.

First time I beat Kary with stupid good luck way before I expected to (Fighter+BB double crits with FAST) on the second turn.

Second attempt both my party and Kary weren't as hard-hitting, but after the 4th round I had dealt 599 damage (last attack being a FIR3)...

Boss treated me really weirdly.

Was doable with 2 Black Belts, Red Mage with Fir3 and White Mage. All on Lvl19 but should be possible earlier as well

Managed to get it with 3 lvl 16s and a lvl 15. RM BB BB WM. had to just get lucky that i didnt get one shot, afire helped make her magic deal only 32~ per turn. Definitely listen to Magud, using a calcutator is just that much easier than not.

This one was a PITA if you are going the no chests/no upgrades run. I had level 18 FI, BB, RM, & BM so in the first round cast fast on both the FI & BB then in the 2nd round had the RM heal whomever got attacked while the BM cast halt which thankfully landed. From there I was able to attack until I could get the HP to the point that the FI & BB had to just run the drink command to heal whomever got attacked in the first round because any future strikes were forsure KO. Right as I got her down to 2 HP she recovered from the halt spell but by that point I had both the RM & BM loaded up with FIR3 which was doing ~30 damage. Counting HP is essential and having a RM helped because he could melee down more precise HP amounts w/o spending spells at the end.

This is not as hard as other commenters are making it out to be on a regular run of the game.

I have a fighter, black belt, white mage, black mage. If you beat the Ice Cave first you can get the fire sword and equip your fighter with it.

Then on turn one, use AFIR and HOLD and attack with the fighter and black belt once. On subsequent turns just spam attack with fighter and your strongest fire spell with black mage, use the white mage to heal etc. and just run with the black belt to avoid accidentally killing Kary. I landed HOLD on my first turn and won without taking damage.

At level 16*
