This can be one of your first achievements if you plan for it. There's a trash can to the immediate left of the Onett Arcade with a can of fruit juice in it. I deliberately left it unopened, played until I got homesick naturally (my first homesickness usually comes at around Happy Happy Village) and then walked with the game in fast forward all the way back to Onett with a homesick Ness, put all my money away in the ATM, then opened the trash can next to the arcade to get this. Tedious? Probably, but it's the best way I found to get this without needing to start up a new playthrough. Alternatively you can save the trash can in Apple Kid's house for a shorter version of the backtracking I did.

I hate this achievement. This is pure luck based one, holy moly i get through my whole playthrough without Ness getting homesicked, this is bullshit, just why, WHYYYY. It's creative I'll say at least, i love the idea, but on practice it's might get harder than getting 1/128 items.

I can’t believe the one time I try and get all the achievements I get a homesick-free run. Crazy RNG for that to happen, I’ve always gotten homesick by at least Fourside. Normally I get it 2-3 times a playthrough.

@muticere i feel your pain man this achivement feels like collecting rain droplets in a bucket and then using it to boil a dish long and waste of time just like this achivement

lol it's not that bad, I finally got homesick while I was in the Pink Cloud cave, so I quickly left, deposited all my money, and grabbed the burger I left in Onett. Achievement for this and the garbage burger one both popped. Now if I were in, like, southern Scaraba, that would be way more annoying.

Any tips for getting homesickness to trigger?
Just did a full playthrough and got every achievement but this one, I managed to miss it.

Want to do a quick new playthrough to get this, wondering if there are any good guides on the quickest way to do so?

Try grinding the easiest enemies you don't autowin the battle for. I think that's the best way, but maybe someone who knows the game better than I do can find a better way

Thanks Olivia. I've done some research and the best option seems to be grinding as if you're looking for a 1/128 item (using savestates on casual should work) while Ness is between levels 16 and 30. If Ness is lower than level 16, or higher than level 75, this achievement seems to be completely unobtainable. At level 16-30 Ness has a 3/256 chance of becoming homesick after each actual fight.

So I'll start a new playthrough, grind to level 15 in Onett and then just be patient I suppose

To think that of all those cheevos, this is the one i would finish with LUL. got homesick when i reached Threed. Finish off Belch then came back to Onett emptied my wallet and search the Burger shop trash can!!!

For those that made it to Threed and got homesick there, if you didn't have the trash burger saved in Onett like me then there is a skip sandwhich in a trashcan to the left of the building near the Desert entrance.

I got lucky and got homesick in Twoson before defeating the next sanctuary. I went back to Onett and checked the trashcan between the Pizzeria and the Arcade to get the Can of Fruit Juice and the achievement

Don't do what I did and accidentally cure your homesickness. From the Earthbound Wiki: "Besides that, the only other ways to get over homesickness are to visit Dr. Saturn, the Saturns' Hot Spring, using the Instant Revitalizing Device or visiting "Your Sanctuary".

fyi, homesickeness depends on the level and you get it after finishing a batlle, it doesnt happen if Ness is level 1-15 or 76+, it has a 3/256 of happening when Ness's level is 16-30 and has a 1/128 chance of happening if his level is 31-75. So my only tip is to make sure you're within the level limit, and just keep grinding till you get homesick-

I reccomend you farm this one because you can get really unlucky and don´t get homesick for an entire playthrough, personally i started in Twoson farming the enemies that spawn in the road to Threed, i ran around there with fast forward until i got homesick and then you can go and pick up either the trashcan of the arcade in Onett or the one in the burger shop in Onett too and for the love of god do it with fast forward it makes this and other farming achievements much more bearable to do.
I also reccomend that while you do this you also farm money by selling chickens so you also progress towards the neccesary money to buy the expensive house in Onett and get the achievement: First-time home owner (in case you don´t know to do this you need to be in Twoson and go the park, then buy the for sale sign sell by the guy with the stop sign, after that buy the eggs to the guy with baskets full of eggs or you can also steal them in a little shop in happy happy village and then after you get the eggs they will hatch into a chick and then into a chicken after staying on your inventory for a while, then you can use the for sale sign witch would attract a customer and you can sell them the chicken for 110)

Easier than I thought..
Deposit ALL your money into your Bank Account when you notice Ness is Homesick.
Next look around for trash cans.
Found one in Threed with a Skip Sandwich.

I THOUGHT I would need to be broke from BOTH my pocket money and Bank Account which made me nervous cause up to this point "Master Blech" I had $17,000. I thought damn, how am I got spend 17k quickly?
Then I said, lemme TRY and see if just depositing my cash away works..

Não sei como que funciona para conseguir a saudade de casa, mas eu consegui essa com o Ness nível 27 e em Threed.
Primeiro eu salvei antes de ligar para a mãe de Ness, então eu fui lá e liguei para ela, quando li que Ness estava com saudades de casa, reiniciei o jogo, depositei todo o meu dinheiro e por fim mexi em uma lixeira que tinha um skip sandwich, então a conquista apareceu.
