    it seems that killing it with bombs doesn't trigger the achievement. not that killing with sword would be hard at all.

    Can't use bombs, but sword beam cheese works just fine

    He didn't hit me but I used a potion when I went in the room to use the beam sword and it didn't give it to me.

    Since the name Eagle is not mentioned in-game, it may be worth including the dungeon number in the achievement description. Eagle dungeon is dungeon 1. Aquamentus is the boss of dungeon 1

    I just did it with two bombs. I don't think I ever killed him with bombs back as a kid when I played this last.
