Note: The secret area in Booster Pass needs to be unlocked before doing this.

Enter the secret area and you'll stumble upon a Snifit Apprentice running towards you and into a battle. Lose the battle and the Snifit will be promoted for defeating you. There are four more Snifits that you must lose to in this area, so exit to the World Map and re-enter the secret area and lose a battle to every one of them to unlock this.

While not required, after doing this you can find the promoted Snifits near the top of Booster Tower.

As an addendum, since their stats are quite pitiful, you may want to fight enemies with instant-death moves like Star Hill"s pulsar (the pointy crystal monster) to have Mario and two others in critical condition. Otherwise the apprentice will probably just run out of FP before being able to do any significant damage.

Here's some extra info : You only need to lose your endgame level HP ONCE. Once you get a game over from the first snifit you all get revived at 1 hp (so be careful on your way out). Adding to this you don't need to exit the area, just the room in particular.

So this is a lot easier to do even at endgame than it seems.

Wow this is an ordeal of just using "defend". Even removing all equipped items takes a while.
