    You can manipulate the birds away by letting them take flight then moving left and getting them offscreen.
    Grab the cross in the candle by the stairs near the bone throwing skele in the area with medusa heads. You can also farm up some hearts/II and III shots by going up and down the stairs to respawn candles. The last section and boss are easy with III and a cross - just dont spam b and accidently whip a mummy.

    @r0ach3d said it all. I did it using the holy water, despawning every bird I came across.
