Managed to do it with Toad. Is he faster that Luigi? Non sure, but his short jump makes it easier to kill the birdo and get onto the crystal in one jump.

Toad is the fastest runner. He's even faster when carrying a heavy object like an enemy, POW Block, ripe vegetable than he is carrying nothing or an unripe vegetable.

World 4-2 Birdo is easier than this one. For this however, use Toad. Go in and out of cave at top until you get 5 cherries for star to appear, then wait for star to float as far as it can to the right before you grab it. Then run like heck to Birdo.

Yeah. It helps to be carrying an enemy (like the Snifit or Ninji) while holding B before picking up the star since Toad is faster when he's carrying an enemy, POW or mushroom block or a ripe vegetable (toss it before entering the door though).

This is super tight, but Kdecks and them are right. Use Toad, and you basically need to jump at birdo, kill him, and grab the crystal ball as in one fluid motion.

I did it with Mario too. It took a few tries, but it wasn't that bad. The video from 84Retro was a great help to plan my run.

Yo, who the hell said to use Toad? I get he's the fastest, and you guys were (maybe) right to get the star in the cave, but he can't jump high enough normally to jump over the ledge to reach the exit, the time it takes for him to charge his jump takes too long and it's hard to tell when he got it as he's flashing with the Star (being on top of enemies is out of the question). Let alone, he needs to jump twice to reach Birdo's Arena. Luigi did the trick just fine at least for me, he jumps high enough and I was consistently getting more attempts at the Achievement and did it in 5 tries, while I kept missing my Jumps with Toad.

Done with Princess Toadstool. Grab the cherry inside to spawn the star. Quickly kill the 2 Ninji, duck to start charging super jump, then wait for the star to go as far right as possible, then super jump, grab the star and float to the door in a single motion. Enter door, run to the edge and float to the next door. Then run and jump from the edge of the platform and you should be able to float to the higher ledge that Birdo is on. If not quickly jump on it and run into birdo while jumping up so the height of the jump is about the height of Birdo. If done correctly you will land on the egg and then quickly pull it up.
