timsdeece's question wasn't answered after nearly four years? Anyway, the roaming beast depends on your starter, it's the one who's strong against your starter - Raikou for Squirtle, Entei for Bulbasaur, and Suicune for Charmander.

Dica brutal pra quem for tentar a maestria do Leaf Green: guarde a Master Ball pro cachorro fujão. Joguei a minha no Mewtwo e me ferrei depois, tomando Roar e Flee do Entei. Fiz todo um treino de EV num Haunter e tive que bolar um puta plano pra conseguir capturar ele.
No fim, nada deu certo e eu só consegui pegar na sorte absurda, pensando que ia sofrer muito ou que, talvez, a maestria não viria por conta do cachorro de fogo.
Mas o Entei chegou e disse: tá tudo bem agora.

Found my suicune by the long route near Fuschia. Masterballed him and done!

I suggest you save your master ball for this.
Go to route 2 put 49 level in front use max repel keep walking in grass then go to building then go back to grass keep doing this until tou get it.
Used only 2 repels to get my dog lol

I made the mistake of using my Master Ball on a shiny Tentacool when I had 0 other balls, please for your own sake save it for this catch 😂

I spent more time than I'd like to admit just riding my bike in game and spamming Max Repels, I chose Route 2 over on the Pewter City side and biking between there and the strip of grass in Viridian Forest.

New to pokemon and don't have my masterball since I was unaware. what's the best way to catch this now?

SStephenMC, depending on your starter, you will want to be extremely careful. It would definitely be best to get a Pokemon with Arena Trap or Shadow Tag. Dugtrio is a good choice for Entei or Raikou. Wobuffet will also work.

You can also try with a Haunter that has Mean Look and Hypnosis. Make sure to max out speed EVs on the Haunter so it will be able to move before the beast. Also make sure to have some Ethers on hand or have some Leppa Berries (Pick Up on Meowth will give you more of these). With all 3 of these beasts having Pressure, you'll definitely run out of PP for Hypnosis if the fight goes on for too long. Use Night Shade or Lick to whittle down HP, then start flinging Ultra Balls until there's none left.

SAVE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT THE BEAST. I can't emphasize this enough. If you have Raikou or Entei and they use Roar, THEY WILL PERMANENTLY DISAPPEAR FROM YOUR GAME AND THERE IS NO WAY TO GET THEM BACK. This is due to a bug. If you have Suicune, then you're safe. Suicune does not have Roar.
