On any Action Level but Hard the maximum speed is capped at 3.5 m/s.

What does “while reaching a speed of 3.66 m/s” mean? If my speed drops, but I meet the time limit, then the achievement is not counted? I reached 1m 6s several times, and the achievement does not open for me. I have the latest version of PCSX 2 (v1.7.5887).

@Gubila I implore you to read the other comments for this achievement as we've all done some pretty extensive testing on how to accomplish this. Also fair warning this is pretty difficult to get and will most likely take you several tries if not more. The only way to know in game that you've reached max speed is the icon for the achievement will pop up in the bottom corner indicating that now all you need to do is make it to the dock in time. The version you're running doesn't make a difference.

the problem is the 60 fps patch, it halves the speed performance, if anyone has succeeded with the patch let me know. (I couldn't exceed 2.5m speed at least 20 attempts, after removing the patch I managed it on the first try)

I DID IT!

This is, without a doubt, the most stupid, incomprehensible, and incredibly annoying achievement I've ever opened. It doesn’t make the game more fun, it doesn’t test your skill, it just makes you mad and breaks your gamepad.

All you need to do is invert the right stick and assign the run button to the trigger, which must be pressed at all time. At the start, after 7 turns of the sticks, setting the direction of the boat, place your palm on both sticks and gradually pick up speed.

Don’t even try to move the sticks with both hands, you won’t be able to synchronize them. I spent 3 days training and nothing worked out for me. But as soon as I used the “palm technique,” ​​I opened this anievement in just a couple of tries.

@Gubila Congrats bro! In my opinion this is by far the hardest achievement. It really seems to me like whatever controller or device you're using somewhat dictates the best method to attempt this. For me playing on the Steam Deck the method of using one hand to synchronize both oars wasn't very feasible since the analog sticks are on opposite ends of the device. Nonetheless though congratulations!

After hours of trying this with my PS4 controller and failing to even reach the target speed once after trying every possible suggestion I had a different idea. I'm gonna transfer the game and my memory card to my phone and try this on AetherSX2 with the virtual analogs. Hopefully I'll soon post back here celebrating, but if this doesn't work I have no idea what else to try. I just have to say though that I find it awful that this achievement puts certain controller types far above others based on the thumbsticks characteristics and placement. That's not to mention that this puts the controllers at great risk of damage in a way that just playing any game normally never should get close to. This really is a bad achievement that doesn't even test the players' skill with the actual game in any meaningful way and requires a type of dexterity that has nothing to do with Silent Hill. When this type of challenge is by far the hardest in the set that's a serious problem that takes the enjoyment of the whole set down for anyone who seriously wishes to master it. I'm sorry if this sounded rude and the rest of the set has been very enjoyable so far. I really appreciate the work done on this set, it's just that this one thing really isn't in line with the quality and expectations set by everything else in it.

Holy shit, the smartphone is the way to go for this! No broken thumbsticks and it's far easier to reach an insanely high speed with virtual analogs on the screen than with real ones. It's just a matter of moving one hand very fast in a circular pattern with 2 fingers touching the screen (I also inverted the horizontal axis of the right virtual analog to accomplish this). I went from barely ever reaching 3 m/s to nearly reaching the top speed of 4 m/s with far less pain.

Oh, and I also used Aether's tap to hold funtion for the run button, just like I was doing before with Steam input on PC. Regardless of the platform you choose to try this on that is an essential tip if you have a way to accomplish that.

@didixx2006 I don't think you'll be able to simulate the turn of the analog stick with enough precision on a keyboard. Maybe you can somehow configure the mouse movement to simulate both analogs at the same time (with one of them having the x axis inverted) and that could have better results. I don't know if there's a way to configure it like that though, it's just an idea. The PC version of this game actually solves this issue by getting rid of these asinine Hard mode boat controls entirely. It works just like any other difficulty, and quite frankly I think that's the best "loss" I've ever seen in a port. In my two previous comments I also talked about how I did this with my smartphone using touch controls. If you have a smartphone capable enough to run NetherSX2 you can try transfering your save to do this there. That's what I recommend the most.

didixx2006 Glad to see this worked out for you as well! It almost looks like this was designed for smartphones sometimes, which of course it obviously wasn't. But it is definitely the way to go, much more doable than on a controller.

What I did was invert the X axis on my right stick. Then did 5 rotations of the of the sticks at the start (left stick anti-clockwise, right stick clockwise) just to get the light in roughly the right place (doesn't need to be exact). Then I used my palm to rotate both sticks anti-clockwise until I reached speed and the trigger icon appeared (I used a hotkey to one of the shoulder buttons so I can easily pause the game to adjust my palm on the sticks). Once I reached speed, I paused the game, changed the right stick inversion back to normal (as I'm more comfortable with this setup), then made some steering adjustments to align the light and then got there. Took me about 5 tries and I ended up with 54 seconds.

I used a PS5 controller
