1) Get this cheevo as late as possible, the more you progress in the game the more figurines will be unlocked, and the more figurines are in the pool, the higher will be your probability of getting a new one.

2) Return on investment of Mystery Shells is very poor. Any shell bet above 1 is only you trying to gain time. Try to stick with only 1 until you're at 20%, then bet enough to get to 50% and savescum. It's a good compromise IMO.

Just get them a few at a time, so as to never be over 800, or you're gonna regret the wasted Shell chests down the line.

Ok, just a quick question, when I beat the game, do I need to start a new save file to get the new figurines, or can I just stay on my normal save file?

You actually NEED to stay on the file where you beat the game (the one with the triforce icon) as the new figurines are only unlocked on this one.

A tip if you want to get more shells for this: Just outside Link's house, dig at the tile immediately to your left when you leave the house. A red rupee will come out, grab it, then enter the house and leave, and you can dig it up again.
You can also dig other things in addition to that guaranteed rupee (the same things you would get from digging normally). If you're lucky, another red rupee will pop out (so you get 2 at once). Doing this 10 times is enough to buy 30 shells and shouldn't take long. This is a nice way to get rupees quickly if you already got most of the kinstone chests (or just don't want to go after them).

I am about 2/3rds of the way through getting figurines but only just now realized that I can just grab the gacha machine's lever to initiate the dialogue with Carlov without having to walk back and forth between the lever and Carlov! Game changer! Hopefully this helps some of you with getting through this very grindy achievement.

You actually don't even have to grab the lever. Turns out that you can just approach the lever to start the dialogue with Carlov. So that fast forward very easy to use with the gacha machine and using only 1 shell at a time to quickly do a bunch of pulls!
