It's honestly disappointing, and has made me less inclined to try and contribute/participate more in this community.
As a new member, what I see is an "ok" unlock rate for a very optional achievement. I've done rarer achievements (I'm thinking of Vaati hitless from Zelda Minish Cap) and I trained for them several days whereas here everyone seems to agree that 3 hours training is enough. Doesn't seem that bad.
Also, I have read the guidelines on "un welcomed concepts" and I don't believe this cheevo falls in any of those categories.
Last thought : if the rest of the set is somewhat easy, why should every achievement be on the same level of difficulty? I understand that most players here want to "master" games, but isn't the initial goal to play games, have fun and unwind? If you feel trap grinding for a trophy, maybe you should take a step back (and when I say "you" I don't mean PeterAndWhitney, I'm just talking in general).
I think I'll never master Symphony of The Night, which is a game I adore, but that's OK, I've played it again thanks to RA and that's fine like that.
If i get into any thats annoying or just cant complete it because my lack of skill on what the achievement requires, I just skip it.
People should just have fun, which is the real purpose of the games, and aim to beat it, if as a bonus you manage to master it then great if not just move on. So many great games out there and so little time, no need to waste it on something thats making you life misserable.
Cheers!! :)
Then there are the people in here (even just in replies today) who seem to revel in the schadefreude, insisting to keep the achievement in place simply out of enjoyment of seeing more people inevitably struggle. So now, every few weeks someone new chimes in to ask why this is so hard, and we have the same few people chiming in telling people to "get good or give up."
Instead of seeing this as it is -- a problematic and arbitrary achievement that results in a significant number of complaints (by far the most-discussed thread on this game's set), -- it's viewed as a source of entertainment for trolls, and the Admins have made it clear they support this by refusing to step in and edit the set. They take their precious little creation way too seriously, so rather than balancing the set based on feedback from the players, it becomes a rallying point for elitists who view these sets as sacred and infallible, for some stupid reason.
Feels very much like the same power-trip type of mentality like the goons at TVtropes. Taking themselves way too seriously and refusing to listen to suggestions/complaints. It's upsetting because this is far from the only set on this site that has a stupid pointless achievement based on a minigame that takes hours to finally unlock, and it kills the fun of trying to master that game's set for many people.
Anyway. Nothing I've said in the past has ever changed anything, so why should it now? Enjoy yourselves, I guess.
Good job, and thanks.
And for the people that defend this sh*tty achievement, sorry, for im not a gamer i guess, and you are all gods. All souls games i have platinum, and a few souls likes, but Im not the MAN.
GREAT community you have here, fellas. Very welcoming.

as someone who got the achievement and personally didn't mind it, i would be down with lowering it to 1500 (your first 1500 gets a Power Tab from the funnymans while 1700 doesn't have a reward, if i recall). but that's not my problem, at least as far as this is concerned XD
Here's the tutorial vid for those coming here looking for advice, since grown adults whining about video games has once again pushed it off the main page:
