literally how are you supposed to hit the second phase consistently without getting hit lmao
    Lipe33 28 Apr 2023 13:35
ok nvm it can be done especially when he buttslams but still, this drags
    Seaofstars86 15 Jan 2024 02:35
almost a month, I leveled up to Lv 92 with the best attack increase equipment and doing 124 per hit, and I finally did it I seriously hate this fight too much and especially its second form
    FabinSS 16 Jan 2024 22:18
Again, the worst offender is Nathan's clunkiness, my gosh, who thought that double tap forward was a good idea to run. You can deal with this one at level 30 if you want, he's not hard, the problem is Nathan.
    susiezillas 23 Mar 2024 23:21
Death itself isn't the problem. not even his homing, random-spawned sickles. it's nathan's stiff controls and clunky skills. the sickles's spawn rate wouldn't be a problem if their hitboxes didn't manifest so soon after spawning. if nathan's attack wind-up wasn't so infuriatingly slow, there wouldn't be a problem dodging any of death's attacks.

Probably my least favorite achievement in the set so far, you REALLY feel how clunky Nathan is in this fight, especially with the second phase
    LeoOfAstora 23 Jul 2024 22:15
Both forms have 880 hp, I tried at level 30 with the best equipment available I needed 32 hits to kill both phases (64 in total). And that's a lot for a fight like this, I left it on an afk farm until level 38, it decreased to 24 hits, but it was still challenging.

I just glitched the sh*t out to accomplish this cheevo
    InfernoVulpix 17 Nov 2024 17:55
A couple tips I figured out while grinding this:

In the first phase, I found alternating left-right more consistent than leading him from one end of the room to the other. The sickles aim more vertically and are easier to dodge and destroy, and you also get to be more aggressive with your attacks.

In the second phase, pay close attention to what sickle patterns give you the most trouble. I found that sickles coming from behind Death were the most troublesome, so I backed off whenever I saw one. It's a waiting game, only go in for a strike when the sickles are favourable.

The first phase is fairly predictable, try to get him to switch to the second phase close to either boundary of the room so that you have more space to run around. He alternates between the shield/gravity skill and his ground pound, and will only swipe at you if you're too close.

I found that getting far away from Death to lure the scythes away worked best, and during shield/gravity just dodge. Running towards Death during this got me accidentally hit all the time, because when gravity ends you abruptly start running faster again.

If you're far away from Death, make sure you can still see him so you can anticipate the ground pound. The best time to get two hits in is right after the ground pound. I never had much luck getting more than two hits as standing in one place for too long will almost always get you hit.

After those two hits, just back up and wait for the pattern to cycle again. If you're able there are other opportunities to get in hits, but "being careful' in a fight that makes already stiff controls even stiffer will make this fight harder than it should be.

As i always say: if you need to provide a video for an achievement, this is NOT a good designed achievement.
    Isaac33 27 Jan 2025 05:51
Nice challenge, except for the fact that Nathan slow movement really shines here and the hitbox of Death in the second phase is awful... I got hit SO much times only for that hitbox.
    TempFox 2 Mar 2025 01:28
first phase is challenging and somewhat fun, but second is just bullshit
    TempFox 2 Mar 2025 17:22
Finally did this shit and must say again
    SECOND PHASE IS BULLSHIT!

Okay, I've mastered every other metroidvania Castlevania game on this site and can say this is fake difficult.

Is not even that hard, but it's a combination of an awkward boss sprite, clunky movement, a boss that make your movement even worse, can damage you sitting on the ground (and you can't predict if you are far from him), and the dev throwed you the Tonfa weapon to use, that makes the game even clunkier.

It was far from the hardest boss cheevo in the series, and it's not even close to the boss cheevo that took me more time to me to deal with it, but it's probably one of the less enjoyable and more frustrating ones yet.

Bad cheevo, for real. Will not judge anyone that let Nathan spinning his whip for a week in a room full of respawning Specters with FastFoward turned on to be on level 70+ for this.

When he uses the attack that slows Nathan down, just slide instead of running. Double tapping to run is already clunky enough on its own
    CassetteCobra 9 May 2025 00:36
Level 50 for this with two Strength Rings and Ninja Suit. All this allowed 52 damage per hit, which means to complete both phases you need to do 17 hits each.

Like the others said, this boss isn't that hard but the mediocre weapon, inconsistent hitboxes, and the odd movement makes this boss a chore.

Before you start the second phase, be sure to have Death near the end of the arena so you can have breathing room to dodge.

The key to the second phase is be patient. Only attack Death when the Scythes aren't going towards him and you can dodge him reliably. Focus on dodging when he slows you down, slide when needed to avoid the projectiles. When he's about to do his Quake move, stay a good distance away so you can see him when he does it and reliably avoid the Scythes. It all comes down to being calm in this phase. Be extra sure Nathan does his crouch animation before you slide so you don't accidentally jump and ruin the run.

Pretty tough achievement, but nothing hair pulling.

Level 37 with two Strength Rings and Night Suit. 36 damage per hit.

Phase 1 was easy-peasy once I realized I could manipulate the trajectory of the little scythes into moving in the same direction as Death.

    Phase 2? Hell. Cthulhu's Realm.

Even after popping the achievement I still don't understand what the sweet spot is. You genuinely need nerves of steel for this, because a single bad cue could unravel the entire thing, especially if you try to dodge when the slow barrier comes up.

If I had to offer advice beyond "just stay calm", though? Try to aim when Snail-Death is about to do the butt-stomp. He's a sitting duck and doesn't do that awful attack where he juts forward with his arm-scythes.
