Hmm I've gotten to the end of the sequence several times, but there is no blue balloon there. Do I need to do something with the barrels to get there? Have tried looking for any explanation but no luck so far.

You need to do the last barrel section as fast as possible without the shortcut to the Blue Balloon to appear

Ah so even if I accidently used the shortcut and start/selected, the balloon won't be there? Otherwise I have done the other things fast.

That is weird, if you use the shortcut and then start select, and try again doing the last section fast, the Blue Balloon was supposed to be at the end, like in this video: https://youtu.be/vSNBcwzekRY

Worked like a charm :) I would sometimes wait a bit or screw up and fall back into a barrel. Has to be perfect on timing throughout to get it. Thanks Spear :)

The first time I saw that this achievement was even a thing was when I rewatched an upload of that 30 minute DKC tape that was given out with the official Nintendo magazines around the world before the game was released and I never bothered to even attempt it, but here I am :DWhat really aided me was of course getting the timing right, but also memorizing the rotation direction of the barrels and from which point their rotation starts upon entering them. I Start+Selected whenever I missed the earliest correct barrel blast, but also had ca. 25 lives collected before I entered the level in case I blasted myself into a bottomless pit.

kinda hard, but you can skip a few barrels with some good shot in the air sometimes so you can go a bit slower after.

The balloon doesn't spawn in until after the G, so you can take your time for everything except the last 3 - 5 barrels.

got it, not too bad just took a few goes to get the rhythm. the animal bonus rooms next for me to clear this game.

From what I could tell, you have to get really good at blasting from the barrels the first time you land in them, and you can't make any mistakes on the timing. It's tough, but if you keep at it, you'll eventually get it. This is probably the toughest achievement in the entire game! It helps if you can learn to ignore the zingers.
