I saw many times the secret page (the one with the heart) in two different rooms of the Ice Palace but it does not unlock this achievement. I am using Recalbox 4.0.1 (core Snes9x-Next of RetroArch). Any suggestion?

try to leave the room and re-enter. look around for a few other books.

Already did. I try for more than 30 minutes, moving from one room to the other

if you used the RASnes i would have asked you to send me a save file to take a look but for recalbox i cant do much

the achievement is supposed to trigger when a book turn the page to the cute one. there are a few books in there. without a save file supported by rasnes i cant do much to help :(

What is the RASnes recommended core for this to trigger? I'm using 9x current.

The achievement check the ability used by the first three enemies on the screen. It might be possible if there are more than three enemies the forth and beyond will not be tracked. Move around the screen and take a loot at another book to see if the achievement will trigger. If you still have issues please send me your battery save [normal save] so i can take a look

Thank you Altomar! Just got it in the library where the door locks behind you and has the the 3 books. I had everyone set to guard and kept walking around the room replenishing health as needed. Eventually it triggered. I made sure to save at Nekko before the ice palas just in case I needed to reload my game.

Can this be done with books other than the Ice Palace ones? If not, it should be marked as missable

I'm not sure if I got super lucky or what but I popped it on the very first book on its first page shuffle. No complaints here!

Technically, the achievement isn't missable because the National Scars in the Grand Palace and Mana Fortress also have a chance to do this. It's just much easier to do in the Ice Palace since there's more enemy spawns here.

I don't know of the achievement's logic trigger is attached to the National Scar as well, though.

Side note: there is a single Mystic Book in the Emperor's Castle just before the second Mech Rider fight directly next to a door.

When you are with the books that cast spells in the Ice Palace, you have to wait for one of those books to cast the secret spell and the achievement will be unlocked, it is not necessary to kill them. But be prepared to be healing until the achievement is activated.
