Wait, how is this possible? You need Surf to reach Blaine and according to Serebii there are no Fire type Pokemon that can learn Surf in Gen 2 (https://www.serebii.net/attackdex-gs/surf.shtml)

Okay, it seems that the achievement pops so long as you don't bring out a non-Fire Type / overleveled Pokemon in battle. I brought my Level 48 Typhlosion and a Level 2 Sentret with Surf, fainted the sentret before the battle, and I was able to get it even though sentret is not a fire type. If you have Typhlosion, Smokescreen + Flame Wheel / Strength is pretty good although you might need some luck on Magcargo

I used Magcargo with Rock Slide as I didn't choose Cyndaquil.

I used Entei (Level 45) due to not picking Typhlosion at the beginning. My tactic was to spam with "Stomp" over and over again. Only problem is, Magcargo constantly uses Rock Slide which deals heavy damage to Entei.. So what I would do is use Stomp 2 or 3x on him and hope you get "Flinched" then use Roar to force another Pokemon into battle.. Once Magmar or Rapidash comes into battle I would then use a Max Potion to heal up Entei and then spam "Stomp" over and over again.. Just keep using potions and you should be able to defeat him with a bit of luck on your side!

you can take all your pokemon with you. Used lvl 48 Entei and took along gloom, pidgeot, feraligator etc. When Entei fainted I used gloom and used max revive on Entei then switched back. ASlong as you don't attack with a none fire type you still get the cheevo.

Did this by using smog as Magmar to poison his pokemon, then swapping around my team to keep the poison damage working and then drop in Magmar to get the last hits.

Very good cheese strategy!

Same as Mike, Lv 40 Rapidash with Toxic + Stomp
