i used omastar traded from another game and it didnt pop, am i supposed to be the owner of the pokemon that does it or does it have to be legally obtainable without trades?

Omastar isn't obtainable in gold or silver. So it is out of logic and unusable for this achievement.

Took lots of tries but managed it with Aerodactyl after 1 Ancient Power buff and luck on supersonic

Beat this with the Level 42 Aerodactyl from the In-Game trade. Its moveset was Wing Attack, Bite, Ancientpower, and TM32 Double Team from the Celadon Game Corner. Set up with 6 double teams, 5 X Defends, 5 X Specials, and 5 X Attacks. Then you can KO the rest of his team with 1 or 2 wing attacks each. You could opt to skip the X Specials but you risk a OHKO surf from Omastar or Kabutops (I actually got hit by Kabutops during my attempt). With this strat, you just need to avoid critical hits and you just need to get a little luck on the graveller. This is probably the hardest challenge so far imo.

This one was the hardest kanto badge, I could do it with corsola, needed 1 ancientpower boost or else corsola would never top kabutops

It was pretty easy. Two Lv43 Corsola with Mirror Coat defeated Kabutops and Omastar.
Gigadrain wasn't a problem as I expected.

Used corsola and rhydon. Spammed surf but had to switch to rhydon once to revive my corsola when it was knocked out. The only real threat is kabutops with giga drain.

I cheesed this one hard. lvl 43 Rhydon aka Ron, 4 x defends, 4 x speeds and 1 x acc and just spam horn drill til they all drop. tired with just 1 each and he wasnt fast enough to take down kabutops.

Lol 43 Aerodactyl with some luck from Ancientpower stat boosts. Corsola definitely would have been easier

Rhydon Lv42 with Mysticwater (Surf, Strenght, Rock Smash, Horn Drill), Corsola Lv.43 with Leftovres (Surf, Ancientpower -without lucky-, Recover, Mirror Coat). Lost 1rst tried, his Water+Rock type was a big surprise hahahah completed at the second time with Corsola against Rock+Water types, lucky didn't need to use HP restore items.

In case you don't want to grind levels:
Get Super Rod at Route 12, Focus Band in Saffron City dojo and TM41 (Thunderpunch) as well as 4 X Special and 2 X Speed at Goldenrod Dept. Store. Use Super Rod to catch Lv. 40 female Dragonair in Dragon's Den and trade it for Rhydon in Blackthorn City. Teach Surf and Thunderpunch to Rhydon, give it the Focus Band to hold and save in front of Brock. Reset until you can use all 4 X Special and both X Speed without dying, Graveler either spams weak attacks (= you can use all 6 without dying) or Earthquakes (reset because he won't use anything else anymore). Once you got all 6 up, use Surf, Surf, Thunderpunch, Thunderpunch, Surf to win.
