Super easy in the first level just jump on the 3 parakoopas for a good combo and run to the left so they respawn and you can repeat the process.

Weird one... On older versions of RetroArch, I can get the leaderboard notification to load, but the achievement doesn't trigger. But with RA 1.9.5, the leaderboard notification won't even activate. Any advice?

Did you enable leaderboards on the new version? You need at least 1.9.4 to earn this one. 1.9.5 should show an icon when it is active if you enable Challenge Indicators as well.

Another easy method is to use the Goomba-hopping trick in 1-2 over and over (reset after the 8000point kill each cycle, before 1ups start)
