first Bionic Kraken I encounter... HAD THE FREAKIN GUTSY BAT, HOLY FREAKIN CRAP!!!!!!!!! The achievement unlocked the moment the battle started, which gave away that it had it!

That really did suck. did it the brute force method (no rng manip), took probably 3-4 hrs (real time, using FF). worst part was getting the single mob on screen and even seeing a kraken. would guess i killed around 75-100 total before seeing the drop so I'd say i was on the lucky side. This was the worst achievement for sure on what was otherwise a really good set.

Was taking forever so I settled for rng manip. Was actually pretty fun to learn and I recommend it to anyone going for this instead of spending hours grinding for it.

This REALLY shouldn't be in the set. A rare drop from a rare enemy? I didn't even fight ONE kraken when I first beat the game. Definitely learn the manipulation. Hey, you shouldn't need to essentially hack the game to get an achievement right? Silly.

I agree that this shouldn't really be in the main set. There's a Rare Drops Subset for a reason. This exact achievement is even in it too!

RNG manipulation *does* work. You just must not be doing it right. You have to do it exactly perfectly. I suppose it might not work if you renamed any of the party members from their default names, but I don't know enough about it to say for sure. I imagine Earthbound's RNG manipulation is a lot like a TAS. A TAS will replay every single input correctly every single time it's ran, down to the millisecond, resulting in the same gameplay every time. Earthbound's RNG manipulation is very similar, just with a lot more leniency. You have to do every input at the perfect times, or it will all fall apart

Okay, I finally just got it but I came up with my own little strategy to get at least 1 to 2 Bionic Kraken Battles per map refresh.

Go to the top of the second map where the top ball is..
Press menu, talk to, enter ball.
You're now in the the 3rd map.
Press menu, goods, exit goods, talk to..
Now one by one battle each enemy.
If Starman, Nuclear Robo, or Final Starman just RUN.. try to avoid taking their prizes.
If you get Kraken then fight.

No more enemies?
LEAVE map, and redo the process
Menu, Talk to..
ENTER 3rd Map..
Menu, Goods, Exit Goods, Talk to..
Fight..
You'll get a Kraken fight 80% of the time if you leave and come back. I THINK my little RNG Manip helped him spawn more. But always keep refreshing the 3rd map.

I tried staying on the same map 2nd & 3rd never leaving, just fluctuating up and down to respawn them. I'd BARELY get Kraken's Spawning thanks this way..
Trust me, if you don't follow my RNG Manip at least do the..
Enter 3rd Map..
Battle..
Exit..
Reenter..
Repeat..
You'll increase your chances of bumping into Bio Krack lol

Also this completes my 1/128 challenge.. I got them all, even the Magic Fry Pan that wasn't part on the achievement list that you get from the Blue Dinosaurs.
I got everyone on level 99 lol..

Finally did it, after switching back and forward for a while between trying RNG manipulation and the brute force approach. Brute force worked for the other 1/128s but for your sanity I 100% recommend learning the manipulation for this. What helped me nail it in the end was the itemised list of inputs in the description for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qiv5olqNb8 - Once I had that I nailed it in about 10-15 tries.

I don't understand the point of such achievements, because there are rare items subset, why are such achievements in the main set? Not only is this enemy rare, but I have to get a rare item out of him... awful.
