    ...how? I havent gotten there yet in my current playthrough but i defintiely thought his defence was nearly impenetrable as a kid without flipping him over

    what you need is patience and lots of green shells.

    Sometimes he'll throw all his eggs without replenishing them, leaving himself eggless for a round. Use that opportunity to Fire Flower him twice. I was getting like 30 damage per flower. Cannonballer did around that much damage too. It took a little while, but his attacks aren't very dangerous, so it's not a big deal.
