Try remapping Control Stick Left and Right to Triangle and Circle, that way you don't have to break your joystick

What I did was hold the controller sideways between my legs and rapidly tapped the control stick to the side like a button with the side of my fingers in a chopping motion. This was easier for me than pressing A, but it did take a few tries.

Mash A and move the control stick up and down at the same time, it helps immensely. Got it fast doing this.

I did it at first try just smashing A and moving the stick in and out of the center as fast as I could. Pretty easy.

I actually knew about this one back in the day thanks to that one Chuckya in Rainbow Ride. I used the cannon and that fucker catched me. A younger me panicked, mash every button and I actually managed to escape him and grab the star Lol

No mapeamento do controle do emulador tem a opção rapid fire, é só ativar ela, quando o bicho te pegar segura A e fica batendo o analógico esquedo pra um lado e pro outro que da certo.
