I unlocked this in the Stalactive Cave with Fei on foot and Bart in his gear - Bart didn't attack/do anything. I guess that counts as "by himself", although I assumed by the cheevo description Fei was supposed to be the only party member...

That's how the achievement is supposed to work since requiring Fei to be by himself is pretty unrealistic.
