If you use Sketch on a Pokemon which used an attack before Sketch will copy the move forever so if a Pokemon used Surf as last move and then Sketch is used on that Pokemon, Smeargle will forget Sketch but will learn Surf forever.

So you need to find a way to make sure that you know what your opponent uses to copy the right move.

Thought this was painful til i realised you can sketch your own pokemon in double battles

You can use Heart Scales instead to relearn Sketch if you don't wanna waste time leveling up Smeargle. Just once you start it tho, don't save it and reset once you get that achievement. Don't wanna waste Heart Scales for that unless you're willing to grind on Rock Smash rocks.

For the doubles battles you can do the following rematches:

The Twins (Kay & Tia) in Route 15, call them on Saturday between 8PM and 5AM

or

The Couples (Tim & Sue) in Route 13, call them on Friday between 10AM and 8PM

Won't recommend Surf tho, it can hit and maybe kill your Smeargle too.
