    To clarify, this means doing all of the damage to Bowser with a blue shell, not just the killing blow. Tried doing 7 fireballs then last hit as shell and didnt work.

    Also, three Blue Shell hits is enough to "kill" Bowser.

    I did that a while ago back when I was a little lad. Just have the blue shell in your inventory (blue circle) while having some sort of power up like the fire flower, it will stop you from sliding on ropes or off ledges into lava.

    Extra clarification: You can eliminate Bowser Jr. with a flower flower, this gets him out the way quickly.

    As mentioned here; Bowser must be eliminated with the blue shell only though.
