If this doesn't work for you, it's likely because you exceeded 65535 points, which is the max amount a 16-bit number in hex can handle. Worry not though! A score of 115537 will loop back around to a working value!

This minigame makes me mad - I can't even get past 20000, because I tend to die, when bandits get inside.

This style of rotational shooter absolutely repulses me and you have to play for like 10 minutes straight to get this. Gross

My advice is to first get a hold of the controls. If you want to turn a different direction, stop all directional inputs then push the direction you want to go. At the start of each round, aim for the corners. Keep yourself in the middle of the arena so when they start closing in, you have easy access to shoot them (how many can depend on how much you shoot at the start, I usually had 1 or 2 but very occasionally 3.) It will take a bit to get use to, but keep yourself in a rhythm and you'll find yourself taking out a few screens without being hit. After a while, one of the game clears will reward you with around 50,000 points which is exactly the initial score, ended with 96,690 using this strat. Takes a bit of time, but you'll get it eventually.
