Posted: 03 Aug, 2013 03:54 Changed name from Boy to Hero? What? Randi, Prim, and Popoi are the official names of the characters FYI. :)
Posted: 03 Aug, 2013 07:39 I put the name Boy in the comment to help others and was thinking of Boy, Girl & Sprite to help differentiate the different main characters. I had no idea what their real names were despite this being one of my all time favourite SNES games.
Posted: 03 Aug, 2013 10:50 Well...still! :D I had no idea what their true names were either and I've played this game a bunch :)
Posted: 05 Aug, 2013 20:10 That isn't surprising, most people don't know their names at all. And I blame this!-> ![]() A scan of the character page in the U.S. Instruction booklet where they were aptly named 'Hero', 'Ally', and 'Ally'. This drove me NUTS when I was a kid because I prefer to name the characters by their canon names. So in the 90's, instead of naming the main character 'Hero' or 'Mike' or something like most people do, I got on my dial-up and found the information on Geocities webpages. :) The sprite, 'Popoi', is a male, btw. :D
Posted: 05 Aug, 2013 20:39 Well...it seems we can learn everyday something new:P
Posted: 06 Aug, 2013 10:26 I dont think I ever immagined the sprite as anything BUT male to be honest... But maybe that's just me :)
Posted: 06 Aug, 2013 12:35 Did some more Address hunting! Now all player characters stats, weapon level and magic levels are found! Yay for me!
Posted: 06 Aug, 2013 14:16 "I dont think I ever immagined the sprite as anything BUT male to be honest... But maybe that's just me :)" Ha! I sure did. I thought the sprite looked like a young girl. Light-orange hair done up in buns, purple weapons, pink socks, long green robe that looks like a dress... ![]() ![]()
Posted: 06 Aug, 2013 16:11 Well when I first played this I was like... 8? 10? and I only borrowed the cart from a friend so I had none of the boxart or concept art or anything and at the time I myself had pretty long hair :P also the character is pretty "rude" or "boyish" with all it's facial expressions and what not, I guess that's what tipped me off back then :D also I thought that the feathers in his hair were his ears for some reason :D
Posted: 05 Dec, 2013 09:59 Just wanted to put an idea into your head . There are two copies of Secret of Mana linked to the site. The one you have made achievements for and a Secret of Mana enhanced ROM. I was going to suggest that perhaps (when time is available) You could use both. The original game ROM for new players and the enhanced ROM for harder achievements (Like ) so that the replayablity is there alongside the re-written game text making it a fresh and harder challenge. Only if you run out of available achievements / points in the current list that is being made.
Posted: 05 Dec, 2013 14:04 I added Secret of Mana Enhanced to the database because I'm a big fan of that project. And I love jack's idea, but it's ultimately up to jaarl of course :) http://fantasyanime.tumblr.com/post/11693685056/secret-of-mana-enhanced for more information on this rom hack.
Posted: 09 Dec, 2013 16:50 oh sorry about this! I never knew there was an enhanced version of the game and if anyone else feel like making cheevos for this title they should feel free to as I havent worked on this title in months (and might not in the near future)
Posted: 30 Jan, 2014 10:50 Cirellio I actually think its a great idea to make cheevos for the hacked/enhanced version of the game also.. I've never really played the game before but if I do start it, Id probably want to play the enhanced one instead of the regular :) These hacks are usually stellar with the dialogue all cleaned up and some really nice translations.
