I am having some technical issues getting back to developing, but once they get resolved, this game is my number one priority, so expect some updates soon! I am quite interested in seeing if the notes I have on the Final Beta match up with the values I find while searching the official game. Best case scenario is that the achievement set can accept both the Final Beta and the official game, though for Leaderboards the Final Beta will be easier.

While I wait to get some help on my technical issues, I do have a request for you guys in the mean time. The official game does have the General Pepper Coins, and I am wondering if the coin count has changed in the final game. informed me there were 53 coins in the Final Build, so I need to do some digging to find out if the coin count is 53 in the official game as well. If any of you guys can confirm this exact coin count in the released game, then that basically ensures that the set can work for either version. I will link the new rom when I can.

Based on some reports on GameFaqs, the ammount of coins (and their placement) are the same from the Final Beta (and it was also confirmed the unlockables of the coins as well), however the user who did the job of getting all medals says that the Satellite coin in hard mode does not appear at all.

There is a Nintendo PDF file that (despite being in Japanese) features the game maps and the location of the Pepper coins, I can confirm for now that there are 19 coins in Hard Mode (the coin that appears in the beta at the satellite indeed doesn't appear in Hard Mode).

I have the file and playing through the game now. You guys are in for a treat, the coins actually do something in the game. Making the new additions to the set will definitely keep you guys busy for a while, but this should be a fun set that isn't too difficult to do. I'll probably need a few days to finalize my ideas and get the values I need. In the meantime, please continue to use the final beta, as some achievements and the Leaderboards are broken in the released version.

Yeah, it will take a while, so far I got (on an actual SNES Classic Edition) all coins from Normal and Hard mode, those two difficulties can take a little while to get the coins because the planets are selected by random, Expert can be done on a single run, but you must get to the final stage with the two selected characters alive to explore both sides (yeah, you have to commit suicide if you want to do it in 1 run, but I think it's worth because how the Star Wolf are troublesome in Expert). I can't wait to see the new achievements soon.

Just thought I'd give a quick update. I will need to revise some achievements and the Leaderboards so they work with the official release of the game. This comes with its own bad and good news. The bad news is that once the new achievements are ready to be released, I will be unlinking the Final Beta roms since they will not be compatible with the set anymore. The good news is that there is a lot more hidden content in the game than in the betas, so I got even more achievement ideas than expected. The following kinds of achievements are already planned and somewhat working, but may need more tweaks to get them fully working:

1. General Pepper Coin collection. (Complete to my knowledge, just need to actually trigger them myself)
2. Using all 6 Star Fox members against Andross. (I need to find the new memory values so RA knows who you are playing as)
3. Secrets and some interesting actions that can happen in the game. (Complete and Fully Tested unless I find more)

I will be exploring the ranking system in more detail once I start playing on Expert difficulty. I am hoping some kind of achievement might come from this. Other than that, I have not considered any other achievements, so feel free to share some ideas for achievements!

Good luck with this! You sound like you're on the right track. I'm glad this is in your hands.

The final version ROM it's attached to this profile... unfortunately...
The beta version its way easier in comparison to the final version and there is no confirmation that it share the same memory addresses, probably would be better to name this game profile as "Star Fox 2 beta" and create a new profile for the final retail version

Here is the thing, though. Do people really want to do the same game twice? I do not think so, personally. I am still working on achievements, so there is still time to debate on whether to support both versions by creating a similar set for the beta, or drop support for the beta and just have a set for the official version. The memory values are different for some features of the official game, so having them both linked might not be an option unless I use the alt set for some achievements, but even that can be risky because the new addresses used in the official game could prematurely trigger achievements if you're using the beta, and vice versa.

On other related news, I can confirm working General Pepper Coin achievements, so as far as original goals for the additional achievements to come, they are close to completion. I still need to test the original achievements as well in the new game, though I can confirm the planet liberation ones work as-is because I have seen the values in question change as I was testing the new set. As for Lylat Liberations, since the game is quite a bit harder, finishing Expert with 0% for Corneria is actually a challenge compared to the beta. Leaderboards for the official version will come at a later time since I need to also find some values for the score and time competitions as they are also different from the beta.

I am honestly thinking it will be easier for me to just drop support for the beta overall, but I will leave the topic to community discussion. In the mean time I shall be doing some more searching to check all of the created achievements at this time.

Not everyone has played it yet and the user count is rapidly increasing. Plus the newer rom is going to be more "accurate" if you will.

better skip the beta support and focus on the retail one then since the it's the most cannon version and that everyone its more excited to try nowadays since the snes mini topic it's hot

In my opinion the best thing is to make everything standard to the final version, and rework all the existing achievements to this version, unlinking the old beta version into a dead end entry.

It's especially good that' you're the original dev as if you need to you can demote and rework anything if necessary without too much of a headache.

Yeah, I also think a good achievement will be to get the secret (star) rank with all characters (to get star rank you need at least 250000 points when you beat the game), reason... there is a little unlockable if you do that, just do it and pay atention to the pilot select screen, I will not say anymore.

This will probably be my last post before the release of the new achievements that will bring this game to the full 400. All of my achievement ideas are almost fully working (still need to test a pair of difficult achievements), so I am now just debating what other achievements to make. I am considering making some more challenging achievements since aside from achievements involving the star rank that Pikangs and other people on the internet have talked about, all of the achievements so far for the game are not too difficult once you have practiced for a while. It is also a possibility that I might add a "Bonus" set for the really difficult challenges, but we will see.

The new achievements will be released once I can confirm what I think is the last unlockable feature in the game. I know you guys will enjoy a majority of the upcoming achievements, especially if you have been playing the game a lot like I have.
