These achievements really need someone who knows this game inside and out - that's definitely not me lol - I know there are multiple endings? And classes/specialisms? Extra quests?

yeah im actually going through it right now... about 10 hours in so far... my only problem is with my lack of hex knowledge (i mean i can go through it reaaally reallly slow... and find everything... but that would be way to slow... plus i would have no idea how to even track the alternate stories and branching stories/multiple endings...

Hexadecimal is not too bad, if it's giving you too much trouble, just look up a hexadecimal to decimal converter. The first one that shows up on google is a calculator right on the site and will convert the number of your choice without going to a different page. It helped me with Link's Awakening.

If we do want to set up Leaderboards...
0x000400 - Microseconds of gameplay (not displayed).
0x000401 - Seconds of gameplay (not displayed, cycles from 00-3c (60 seconds) Bits 0-5 all read 1 when it turns over a minute.).
0x000402 - Minutes of gameplay - Ones place (cycles from 00-09, then +01 to the Tens place).
0x000403 - Minutes of gameplay - Tens place (cycles from 00-05, then +01 to Hours, Ones place).
0x000404 - Hours of gameplay - Ones place (cycles from 00-09, then +01 to Hours, Tens place).
0x000405 - Hours of gameplay - Tens place (cycles from 00-09, then +01 to Hours, Hundreds place).
0x000406 - Hours of gameplay - Hundreds place (not displayed).
*Clock stops displaying at 99:59, but game still keeps track of how many hundreds of hours for some reason.
Number of saves on your savefile:
0x00299c: cycles 00-FF, (255 Saves) then adds +1 to 0x00299d.
0x00299d: 00-03 (e7 * 03 = 999 Saves, max displayed). It keeps counting above this.
(Save #999 = e7 03.)

I'm at 400 points. List is pretty much finalized at this point, unless anyone can think of anything else to add or remove.
Really wanted some kind of Ocean Palace Lavos challenge, but I think solo Lavos and Final Spekkio make up for it.
And I'm glad I managed to squeeze in one for defeating first-encounter Golem.
The ocean palace challenge is still there if you think about it, because if you defeat Ocean Palace Lavos pre-New Game+, that would be very impressive and would be reflected in the order you got the achievements.
(Also that would win you the Dream Team ending, which is why I included it in the Ending #3 description.)
edit: Nevermind. I ended up adding these achievements anyway :P

75 achievements and 18 days later, I'm done!
A few notes:
-No, defeating Gato is not worth 15 gamerpoints. Though it probably should be ;)
-The 'OR' achievements are live right now. They can still be achieved as such->
Now You're Playing with Power! (5)
Equip a Powerglove
...requires you to equip a Powerglove on every character at once.
Seeing Stars (5)
Max out PWR, SPD, or MAG on any character
...would be unlocked at the same time as 'Star Guru'.

I have an "out of the way" idea. How about "Beat the game with a level 1 Crono"? He wouldn't have to be used in the final battle or anything like that. He just needs to be level 1 by the time the game is beaten.
It definitely is possible if you keep him dead all the time as soon as he's not the only party member. I know for a fact that Crono has no experience forced upon him to the point of a level up being forced.

^This is certainly do-able.
Even a whole LLG achievement, or beating the game in under x hours. These ideas crossed my mind during development.
Problem is, I ran out of points! I wouldn't want to award anything less than 10 points for soloing the final boss, for instance, or 15 for a perfect score against Johnny (easily one of the hardest achievement on this site).
Also I'm not so sure there's much of a demand for achievements like this. But maybe I'm wrong - There's clearly at least some demand since you're asking about it...
Anybody have any suggestions on how to handle this?

I'd say that RPGs should probably have a higher total score cap because they are (usually) longer although some shorter games achivements might require more "skill" rather than just time investment... but the discussion on point cap is for another thread :)

I'm sure the demand for things like this is low, cirellio. I suggested it because I'm the kind of person that does that, but I have a rare approach to gaming and achievements alike. For instance, I'm the kind of person who doesn't really like achievements based on plain regular progress in a game, but would rather see unusual things that are optional, out of the way, hidden, and the like. Things like drinking all eight cans of soda is good. Things like defeating Zombor... I don't know. You get it by just playing the game no matter what (as long as you play that far, of course). Most of the achievements in Chrono Trigger are good, though.
Anyway, that's just my own point of view, and I know some people would disagree. I'm not sure I would even bother going for that achievement if it existed, myself. I did that back in the days, but then again, I had too much free time as a teenager. :p Well, maybe I would.

I'm with you. I love the challenging and interesting achievements the best, too.
But having at least a few progression achievements has its advantages:
-I want people who have never played Chrono Trigger to experience the game, and I definitely want to toss 'em a bone or two for doing so.
-You can tell roughly how far through a playthrough someone is by glancing at their achievements.
-If you manage to get an unusually difficult achievement before, say, defeating Zombor, it's all the more impressive.
