Hello !

No offence to the (wo)man who coded the achievements, (it must have been quite a long work to do) but come on : the "perfect" ones are obviously only possible by decreasing the emulation speed... So what's the point ? I mean, there's no satisfaction at all in getting them by pressing +/- continuously. It's actually awfully boring.

Can someone who already get these achievements (especially perfect in lvl15 and more) claim that he got them the "legit way" ??? (wihtout decreasing the emulation speed) I sincerely doubt it...

I thought emulator speed was disabled but I never even tried it...

Anyway, mode C (clay shooting) is very easy to clear. The difficulty doesn't change much and the trajectory is always parabolic, which is easy to predict. You only have 1 extra bullet but is rarely an issue (you just aim to shoot when the clay reaches certain height).

Mode A is challenging, I haven't cleared all 20 levels yet, but it's definitely doable (I'm sure I did it back on the NES, I mean getting a perfect all rounds until lv 21...). Ducks mostly travel in a straight line, although the angle of trajectory does change a lot in higher levels. You have 2 extra bullets but still is harder than mode C due to the speeds.

Now, mode B is another story. The Ducks are really unpredictable and will move very random (that you would think they are on crack). You only have 1 extra bullet which makes things worse. I certainly have my doubts about people clearing this mode honestly & now that you mention the speed, I guess that's how they did it (could be wrong though).

Edit: Also, the new batch used to be from level 1 to 5 and not multiple of 5, so that's another thing to take into account. (when you get an achievement and it gets modified, you'll retain the win...)

I totally agree with your feedback. Mode C is the easiest mode, due to the paths followed by the clays.
Mode A can maybe become doable with a lot of practice. The difficulty curve in mode B, however, seems a bit 'steep' to me though...

It's not necessarily a bad thing to have some challenging achievements for this game, my main issue with them is that the set isn't worth 400pts meaning that someone could add a bunch of other achievements in the future (they might even if it was worth 400pts but that's an issue for another day).

I'm no expert but if the current achievements make for a good challenge and cover the entire game I recommend we adjust their value so that the set is worth the holy 400.

There's no need to inflate points to reach the arbitrary total, especially for Duck Hunt. I don't get why people are obsessed enough to want sets to be given 400 points even though the achievements definitely are not worth that much and worried more about people adding more things to do than the balancing issues low-effort/high-point achievements cause. I already lowered the points for multiple achievements because they were ridiculously high for what they were and they're still a tad high for my liking.

Also these new achievements were made in retaliation to some achievements that were not so great, most likely because the person just jumped in and did them just with what the most basic thing he could do was without trying to figure out more complex coding to do what he wanted to.

If you want to try to get 400 points how about not wasting bullets for 20 rounds?

That seems pretty difficult to me.

I'm pretty sure that faces similar problems to what was described above. While that is rather difficult, I would say that perhaps it is both too similar to just getting perfects and takes it a bit too far to the point of most people who receive it probably cheating.

I have pretty much reached my limit without getting very frustrated with the perfects as is. Usually I end up failing prior to a certain round specified by the achievement. I did manage to get C's done, though. I did notice around that round that the amount to move on to the next round was 9 successfully shot, so having just "reach round x" probably is going to end up requiring perfects anyway. We may either need more achievements like "Duck Hunt Dynasty", or else just increase the point values of the achievements we already have.

How do you shoot the ducks without a zapper on the emulator? I tried to switch over to mouse on input but the emulator crashes whenever I do. I noticed there is a zapper listed in the input menu but I didn't know third-parties are making usb zappers. Also, the rom I'm using has both SMB + Duck Hunt bundled like my old school catridge. Do I need a separate rom for Duck Hunt or will that work?
