Is anyone else getting glitchy flickering graphics on the walls? Also seems slower than the youtube vids I've watched of it unless it's my imagination. Maybe my emulator settings are wrong?

Well, the SNES version is a bad port, that's why.

Looks like it might be SNES9x related, no glitchy graphics on ZSNES from the youtube video I saw.

This game is a horrible port. It has a bad framerate, is too dark overall, it does not feel smoothly. Unless you go for the SNES achievements, play the PC or GBA version instead.

beating level e1m1 and e1m2 did absolutely nothing

DOS may have been a 16-bit OS but that means nothing if the hardware of the snes couldn't compare to PCs.

Counterstrike like games of 90s are mostly only playable on PC

I find it interesting to see the phrase "counterstrike like" used where most people that gamed before Counterstrike would say "doomlike" or "wolfenstein like" :)

Also I agree with protoblubb, this is the worst version of the game. Wasn't the SuperFX chip supposed to make games BETTER? I mean I know the SNES only had a 4.77mhz CPU...

No, the 32X version was MUCH worse, SNES9X emulates the game much more poorly than ZSNES. And it even took ZSNES plenty of revisions to get it right.

SNES version is only superior sound wise and by far in that category. lol. 32x does everything else better. GBA has the far better console/handheld port.

I think the achievements for getting to and finishing the levels on UltraViolent mode are buggy... I'm not getting them. I restarted 3 times on UltraViolent and still no achievements pop. Retroarch 1.5.

Its a bad port for sure, personally I found 32x with the right shaders and ram cart enabled was better that Snes. Tbh I'm not a fan of doom ports generally But till the day DOS doom gets chevos its all we got :)

horrible port

You clearly have no clue about technology of the time if you think this is a bad port. It's pretty much the most impressive of all the original ones by far, a lot of work was done for this one.

A totally new and impressive engine for a SNES (yes, it looks bad, and plays rather bad, but you're on SNES). Name a single 3D game on the system having that much textures and content. There's no other.

It's clearly not the best way to enjoy Doom and I totally agree with people thinking it's barely playable at some point, but what they achieved with this game running on SNES is clearly HUGE for the time.

One thing I found to speed it up is to overclock Super FX in SNES9X. Around 400% seems to work fine for me. This way it is at least playable.
